Workshops Offered

All workshops can be customized to the audience type and level of expertise, the length of workshop or type of nonprofit organization. Workshops can also be offered online. 


  • Strategic Planning for Nonprofits:  Introduces the practical techniques and fundamental principles of a strategic planning orientation.  Focuses on developing skills and analyzing current organizational situations, laying out long- and short-range objectives, building an effective organizational strategic plan and developing implementation plans.  Topics will include environmental scanning, problem identification, SWOT analysis, strategy goal formulation, implementation planning.


  • Performance Management for Nonprofits:  Examines the trends towards outcomes-based models of evaluation for nonprofit organizations. Includes a readiness assessment to undertake performance measurement, the creation of logic models, use of baseline data, selection of key performance indicators, data collection methods, and performance reporting. 


  • Volunteer Management:  Discusses the strategic management cycle including goals of the program, volunteer recruitment, volunteer training and orientation, volunteer management, volunteer recognition and feedback.  Use of technology to assist in volunteer management efforts also emphasized. Generational challenges of volunteer management.


  • Nonprofit Fundraising:  Address specialized and applied instruction in fundraising, including solicitation techniques, donor recruitment, and customer relationship management technologies.  Find the donors who are right under your nose and increase your donor base.  


  • Nonprofit Communications: Build the necessary knowledge and skills necessary to identify and communicate with various internal and external audiences including employees, donors, the media, special interest groups, elected officials, and citizens on a regular basis and during a crisis.  Use of technology emphasized including website, social media, and text messaging. 


  • Nonprofit Financial Management: Nonprofit financial management is all about discipline to build a solid revenue base, a well-supported budget, clear financial objectives and policies and the discipline to keep to the plan. Evaluate where your organization is today.  What are the financial signals you are sending to potential donors? 


  • Nonprofit Board Development: Beginning with a discussion of roles and responsibilities of staff versus the Board, this workshop will explore issues of leadership, governance models, board recruitment and orientation, professional development for boards, board policies and procedures and succession planning. 

  • Ethics are Everyone's Job: An overview of ethics in the nonprofit sector, how ethics is distinguished from values and morals, how ethics guide nonprofit boards and employees, and then how ethics works in practice, specifically how ethics relate to fundraising.


  • "KNOW YOUR NONPROFIT NUMBERS with 5 Ps"  These workshops can be offered as a series of independently.
    1. Purpose:  A workshop on values, mission, and vision that sets the foundation of your organization including examination of strategic goal alignment.
    2. People:  A workshop on the people in your organization and how they support your mission, including staff, volunteers and the Board including management, roles and responsibilities, ethics and governance.
    3. Performance - Financial:  A workshop on identifying your key financial measures, and how to manage for healthy financial efficiency.
    4. Performance - Program:  A workshop to align your mission with your programs which speaks to your organization's effectiveness.
    5. Promote: A workshop that brings the other elements together in a clear communications strategy with your stakeholders.
